Kingston Bears was originally born from Susie James' passion for teddy bears and knowledge of antique textiles which she has uniquely combined to create a vast selection of very individual bears that can stand proudly, holding their own amongst the hundreds of other makers out there.

"I have always enjoyed sewing and twenty years ago when a friend of mine became ill and went into hospital I decided to make a bear to cheer him up. I found the experience highly rewarding and this one bear grew into a hobby which eventually turned into the launch of Kingston Bears."

"One of my main passions is for antique textiles and I love trawling around numerous antique fairs finding vintage doll's clothes and pieces of antique material and fabric that will be the beginning of a new bear. It is upon finding these 'treasures' that I get my main inspiration for the next Kingston Bear and the exciting shape that their personality will take."
